This is a story I’ve been writing for a few years now, since I was 10 years old in lockdown. It is book 1 of the series Eclipse, and stars protagonist Sylvie Dawson, a 13 year old girl with a determined spirit and deadly power.
The book follows Sylvie as she realises she can visit the magical land of Eclipse in her dreams. She is happy for a short while, with her friends at Moonbeam Academy. But there are secrets… and somehow, she gets thrown into a perilous quest. Fighting against strange creatures and questioning alliances, Sylvie’s life suddenly becomes a jumbled mess. Not to mention her strange flashbacks… Join Sylvie and see if she and her friends succeed in their quest and get all the ingredients for a supposedly important potion…
This book is fantasy fiction, and 110k words long. I’ve spent years working on-and-off on this novel. I started it in lockdown as a bit of fun; there was so much free time in the COVID lockdowns! However, after we got back to school, I didn’t write for about half a year. I resumed my novel at the end of April 2022 before ultimately giving up again after a few months. Finally in 2023 I came back to my novel in June with renewed enthusiasm. I finished it at the end of September 2023, and published it December 2023 via Amazon KDP.
Over the years, I’ve also spent a lot of time researching writing, correct formatting, publishing etc. I’m excited now to have my own website!
Hope of Nightmares is available from Amazon in both eBook format and paperback:

Hey Charlotte!! I’m rlly excited to read your book
Hey Naya! Glad to hear! xx
Hi Charlotte,
My name’s Scot – my nephew, Josh works with your dad, I think. He started telling me about Hope of Nightmares and revealed that you were thirteen years old! I had to stop by to say congratulations. I’m shaking my head at your level of self-belief and your fearless attitude to your art. I think you may have discovered the secret to writing already – just write! But that is so much easier to say than it is to do. Have you considered making an audiobook version for sale on Audible? Isobelle Carmody started writing her famous book Obernewton when she was fourteen, so you are in the company of fantasy royalty there. Also, have you had any dealings with The Wheeler Centre? They are an amazing resource and run workshops and events for all writers. I dare say they would take you as seriously as you take your writing.
Warm regards, and best of luck with your work,
Scot
